  28. Right.  The .inf files are only read when the modem is installed.
  29. Editing them won't have any affect on the registry until you remove
  30. the modem, then reinstall it.

  32. On my 288XV when I removed the semicolon, I'd get a dial-tone but
  33. it would never dial.  So I put the semicolon back and it works
  34. again but I can't hear dialing or negotiations.  There will probably
  35. be as many different results as their are PC configurations.
